Octagon Park Tennis Courts- General Rules and Regulations 2008

-This facility is available for RIOC Tennis Permit holders and their guests only. New York City Parks Department permits are NOT valid.

-Permits fees are:
-Adults $100
-Seniors (62 and over) $20
-Juniors (18 and under) $10
-Instructors $200

-There is a $10 charge for replacing lost or stolen ID cards.

-Courts will be open from 6am until 10:30pm every day. Although courts are maintained by RIOC from April 1 through November 30, permit holders will be able to access the court from April 1 through March 31 of the following year.

-PRIMETIME HOURS: 6pm-8:30pm weekdays, 9:30am-1:30pm weekends and holidays. Court monitors from the Roosevelt Island Tennis Association (RITA) will oversee the facility during primetime hours and on a spot-check basis during non-primetime hours. Monitors oversee court use and settle disputes. Compliance with their requests is mandatory.

-Court 4 is reserved every weeknight 6pm to 9:30pm for RITA lessons and community programs. This court may be released for general play at the discretion of the RITA official in charge. No other instruction/coaching is permitted during primetime hours. No ball baskets, individual practice, or private lessons during primetime.

-During non-primetime hours, instructors/coaches must relinquish their court after one hour if there are any permit holders waiting to play.

-All players entering the facility must have permits (or guest permits when appropriate) available in hand for display to on-court players or monitors when claiming a court. No entry to the courts without a valid permit or guest permit. NO EXCEPTIONS!

-Guest fees must be paid in advance at Public Safety, located at 552 Main Street. The guest fee is $10 per day PLUS a $10 deposit that’s refundable upon return of the guest pass. Failure to return a guest pass within 5 days of using it will result in loss of the $10 deposit.

-Players must not allow entry to non-permit holders. Failure to observe this rule may result in suspension or revocation of permit without reimbursement, as well as the arrest of unauthorized persons who trespass in the facility.

-No advance reservations. Play is on a first come first serve basis. All players must sign in, noting the time and court number when they take possession of a court. Failure to sign in, or signing in with a false start time, will allow any waiting players, with valid permits or guest passes in hand to assume that the court has been occupied for its allotted time (1 hour for singles, 2 hours for doubles) and to ask the players not signed in to relinquish the court.

-Permit holders who have played their allotted time may continue their play if there are no permit holders standing by to play. If all courts are occupied and additional permit holders approach to play, the players who were the first on the courts shall be the first to relinquish their court.

-Every Saturday (weather permitting) from 10am to noon, courts 1, 2, 3, and 4 are reserved for doubles round robin play sponsored by RITA. Every Sunday, the same applies to courts 1, 2, and 3. All interested players are welcome. Tennis balls will be provided by RITA. Please check in with RITA official in charge.

-No wheels of any kind- including but not limited to- skates, skateboards, bicycles, or rollerblades. Beverages in non-breakable containers only. No glass.

-The Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation reserves the right to close the courts at any time for any reason without prior notice.
