Guidelines for Community Calendar Event Entries

To ensure that the Community Calendar will reflect the vibrancy of our community and remain uncluttered for ease of use at the same time, RIOC urges all participants to adhere to the criteria below. RIOC reserves the right to edit content of entries for the Community Calendar as well as to terminate use of the Organization Calendar for groups which fail to follow the criteria. RIOC also reserves the right to modify the criteria.

Criteria and Guidelines

1. The event is a major local event, open to the public, and has a broad community appeal. For example, festivals, performances, major sport events, public lectures, exhibitions, neighborhood meetings, fundraisers, etc.

2. The event is non-profit/non-commercial in nature. Events whose primary purpose is to promote/sell products or advertise services of individual businesses are not appropriate. However, events such as "Soccer Kick fest" or "Main Street Art Showcase" for example, which promote the activities of community groups, or for-fee events such as fundraisers for non-profits are welcome.

3. The targeted audience is the public instead of private/membership. For example, rehearsals for a drama production would be more appropriate for your Organization's Calendar. The performance itself, if open to the public, will be appropriate for the Community Calendar.

4. The event is organized directly by the group granted permission to promote the event on the community web calendar OR the event is submitted as a single event by the organizer, i.e., not a third party event.
