On Tuesday, November 30th, 2010 Roosevelt Island's state-of-the-art Aerial Tramway returned to service. Island visitors and residents are provided a 3 minute ride across the river from Roosevelt Island to East 60th Street and vice versa. The Tram is designed with two independently operated and powered cars shuttling back and forth across the East River, carrying 109 passengers at a time and 2 million people annually.
