The Department of Public Safety has tested some new progressive pieces of equipment for use by the officers. The Segway was one of those, and proved to be quite an efficient tool. Besides allowing officers to move expeditiously in the street, they were also able to navigate on sidewalks and even through the halls of the residential buildings here on Roosevelt island. As a matter of fact, while test-riding one of the Segways through the halls of Eastwood, Officer Veras made an arrest, apprehending a subject for Criminal Trespass. Several Board Members approved of these efficient Patrol tools, especially after test riding them themselves. P.S.D. will be purchasing two Segways and they will be here on the island soon.
