On Saturday, May 17, 2008, the Department of Public Safety celebrated it's 1st Annual Commendation Ceremony.  In addition to officers receiving awards for exemplary service, two officers were also officially promoted.  Sergeant Wanda Coleman was promoted to Lieutenant and Detective Raul Hernandez was promoted to Sergeant.  Public Safety Officers also received commendation awards for the following:

Excellent Service Medal
Meritorious Service Medal
Life Saving Medal
Medal of Exceptional Merit

Commanding Officers from the 19th Precinct and 114th Precinct were in attendance, as well as the Director of Security for Coler-Goldwater Hospital.
